SOUND INNOVATIONS - 4th/5th Grade DVD and CD Instructions
Sound Innovations Band Book mp3 Disk operation & DVD. Your child's book comes with a DVD and an mp3 CD. I encourage you to take some time and play the DVD, while you have the instrument out. You can follow along and play with the DVD!
Also, the mp3 CD provides an accompaniment to play along with. On this page, I'll help you to using the mp3 disk in your band book. The disk is designed to be used while playing at home. It makes practicing more fun! The CD is an MP3 CD, so make sure that your player will play an MP3 CD I have an older CD player that will not play these newer disks. Most computers, with a CD drive will play these MP3 disks.
There's two ways to use this disk, (1) with a computer or (2) loading the mp3's into iTunes
Sound Innovation Player on your computer:
This is a self running application, no need to install anything on your computer. Simply inserting the disk, you can access the player and all the sound files.
Using with a computer is easy. Follow these simply directions:
1) Insert the disk into your computer drive. An icon will appear:
Next you'll click the Disk and open it to see the files:
Double Click the SI Player to Launch the music player:
When the player is opened, you'll see this screen:
Now, you can choose a song from the pull down menu and click the Arrow (play) button to start the song. Moving the red rectangle to the left will slow down the song, to the right to speed it up. Have fun.
Optional: Importing Into iTunes:
Once you can see the folders inside the CD, double Click the "Sound Innovations Book 1" folder. You'll see the list of all the mp3's in the book, like this:
You can now (1) select all of the mp3's (2) open iTunes, (3) add a new playlist (called Sound Innovations Book 1), and (4) move all the mp3' into the play list.
Now you can run your songs from iTunes instead of the SI player:
Have fun playing along with iTunes.
Note, you cannot change the tempo of the songs while playing in iTunes. That has to be done from the "SI" player. However, you could move the files to an iPod or iPhone for more practice options.
